Dungeons Next Door
This parallel version of modern Japan has established dungeons and an explorer system. Phones, trains and online shopping are much as Takashi remembers them. The main settings are Takamori and Misaka, three train stops apart.
Explorers register with the Association and carry explorer cards. Six ranks, E through S, measure trust through achievements, safety and leadership as well as strength. They are separate from personal and skill levels.
Defeating monsters, collecting magic stones and materials, then having them assessed and sold pays the bills. Equipment and supplies also cost money. Exploration and everyday living are parts of the same life.
